2008 Summer Soccer Skills Camp will be held July 7-10, from 6:00 - 7:30 pm at the Brunner & Lay Soccer Complex, in Springdale.  2008 will be the 8th year for the camp.

My camp has 4 underlying principles:

  • Provide high quality, age appropriate technical instruction that will allow young players to play confidently and enjoy the game.
  • Provide the instruction in a fun-filled, enthusiastic manner that promotes passion for the game.
  • Promote sportsmanship, teamwork, coach-ability and other lessons that will help players grow not only as soccer players, but also as people.
  • Provide counselors that are accomplished soccer players and/or coaches and keep the counselor to camper ratio reasonable (1:10 is what we try to do).

Many camps do 3 hour sessions to justify high registration costs.  This camp is not going to win any awards by the Harvard Business Review, and it is not a babysitting service.  The camp is built around what is the best learning environment for young soccer players.  Young players do not get 3 hours worth of benefit from a 3 hour training session.  Many players spend the last hour (or more) with low energy, waiting on the session to end.  Summer Soccer Skills Camp sessions are 90 minutes each night.  Players get approximately 15 minutes of a skill-building warm-up, 60 minutes of instruction and repetition on a particular topic, and 15 minutes of play on the first 3 nights of the camp.  This format allows players to participate with energy and vigor, which maximizes their experience.  The last night features small-sided tournaments where the kids can apply their skills in a fun, but competitive environment.

Every year over 100 young players participate in this camp.  It continues to be the best value in a soccer camp in NWA.  Don't let your child miss the fun.

Registration for the 2008 camp will open in April.  Business owners can capitalize on the opportunity to become a camp sponsor.  Sponsors receive a scholarship to use on a player of their choice, or a player determined by the camp.

We look forward to seeing you in 2008!
